VALLEY SERIAL KILLER LINKED TO
GIANT INSURANCE COMPANY
BEAR REPUBLIC CLIENTS WERE DYING...EVERY FORTY-FIVE DAYS
The only common denominator was the agent who sold them their life insurance policies. Arnold Taylor. Though not a suspect, Arnie felt responsible.
Would the LAPD solve the case, or would the solution be in the guise of an old friend, with a past as dark as sin?
In his second novel, Walker takes us back to what should be, the routine life of a 1970s life insurance agent. With a cheating wife, friends of dubious character, and his clients being murdered every forty-five days, Arnie's life is anything but. The twists and turns keep him in a constant state of uncertainty, culminating with the murder of three innocent victims who know too much.
Vengeance Unbound is a story about people facing life choices, both good and bad. It's about violence and vengeance, betrayal and suspense, romance and new beginnings.
With its snappy dialogue and breathtaking action, Gary Wayne Walker's "Vengeance Unbound" is an engaging page-turner that will intrigue readers right up to the final page.
NOTE--While three major characters from "Vengeance is Mine" reappear in"Vengeance Unbound," the story stands alone and can be read and enjoyed without having read the first novel about the Taylor family.
Vengeance is Mine-- NOW AVAILABLE IN TRADE PAPERBACK AND AS A KINDLE DOWNLOAD ON Amazon.com
In 1949, when prominent Hollywood lawyer Everett Taylor travels to Riverside County to defend a woman charged with murdering her husband, he is convinced his career has hit a new high. Once he arrives and starts to work on the case, however, his life becomes complicated, unpredictable, and dangerous.
Taylor is soon brought face to face with Mickey Cohen and his mob, all the while struggling to deal with his own dark past. As he attempts to discover the truth , his physical health and sanity begin to disintegrate. Crippled by polio at four years of age, he begins to suffer from heart disease, a recurrence of polio, and mental illness. Further complicating matters is his tumultuous relationship with his family, including a resentful daughter left behind in St Louis when Taylor's first marriage ended in divorce, and a wife who struggles to understand his desperate desire for justice.
The story holds a mirror up to the game of evil and its devastating effects on innocent family members. Complex, twisted, violent, fractured--"Vengeance is Mine" is a page-turner in the tradition of John Grisham and Nelson DeMille.
A SAMPLE OF REVIEWS OF VENGEANCE IS MINE
"This layered story offers not only suspense and surprise, but also insight into the human condition."
"Vengeance is Mine is a deep character study of some fascinating, three dimensional characters living in an equally fascinating era, as Southern California began to explode with growth, crime and legal shenanigans."
Sid Gardner, author of Broken Bridges and Like a Single River.
"Fans of gangster fiction and films, and those delighting in the distinctive culture of post-World War ll Los Angeles, will be engrossed in this imaginative and thought-provoking first novel by Mr. Walker."
"This novel is written in three "books." Book 1 is the event that changed Everett Taylor's life. It's a good story by itself, but it's book three that makes this novel unforgettable. Book two is a lot of family history-- absolutely necessary to understanding book three. Don't skip it."
